Linux IrDA driver for IBM Thinkpad X40

Thursday, June 02, 2005 at 08:34 PM

nsc-ircc-pc8738x.diff adds support for the PC8738x IrDA chip that is used on my IBM Thinkpad X40. So far only SIR mode (115 kbit) has been successfully tested.

Update: Merged into the kernel since 2.6.12-rc1.

nsc-ircc-pnp.diff enables chips identified as PnP-ID NSC6001 and IBM0071 through the Linux PnP subsystem. Worked on my IBM Thinkpad X40 when ACPI is enabled (although I strongly recommend the patch above). The patch is experimental, use with care. Reported to work on the following laptops:

  • Acer Travelmate 3202 XMi
  • Acer Travelmate 4000LMi
  • Acer Travelmate 4502wlmi
  • IBM Thinkpad X40 (see patch above as well)
